LA JOYA - Hello again everybody.
We are live at La Joya Coyote Stadium for today’s 1 pm area matchup between the PSJA High Bears and the La Joya Coyotes.
This game is the first of four I’m covering this weekend. After I experience “Bear Pride” in person for the first time, I’m off to Weslaco for the McHi-Weslaco contest at 7. Tomorrow, I’ll be at the Harlingen South-Rowe game and then the Los Fresnos-Donna battle. I can think of worse ways to spend a couple days.
For the first time this season, I’ll be at a game where the weather actually plays a role in the game. I would say the temperature is in the mid-40s with a steady drizzle. Thank goodness I had my $8 Steve & Barry’s jacket in my trunk. I’m also thankful for the heated pressbox.
While I came prepared in terms of my jacket, I really dropped the ball when it comes to footwear. Instead of wearing a pair of loafers or my old, beloved Nikes, I went with a pair of Roos. Don’t get me wrong, they look stunning, but they have no traction. Walking up the wet aluminum bleachers here was like walking on ice. Remind me not to run down to the field after the game.
This game should be a great start to my Magical Mystery Tour. Minus, of course, the LSD.
